A research project undertaken by the National Gallery in Prague with support from a grant provided by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the EHP mechanism.

The project seeks comprehensively to record, document, analyze, interpret and present the work of Karel Škréta, a major figure in Baroque art in Bohemia and central Europe, with an emphasis on the European sources of his work and the general cultural and social atmosphere of his time.
The project consists of three overlapping activities: historical research, art-historical research and technological research.

The National Gallery in Prague is concurrently preparing the monographic exhibition: Karel Škréta (1610–1674): Artist—Era—Work. The exhibition will be held from November 26, 2010 till April 10, 2011 in the Wallenstein Riding School Gallery and the Prague Castle Riding School Gallery. It will be co-organized by the Prague Castle Administration and the Archbishopric of Prague.
